A magical moment away from everyday life

The Mirador del Balcón is a viewpoint that makes you forget everyday life for a moment. Located high up on a spectacular cliff coast in the northwest of Gran Canaria, you'll find a breathtaking view over the endless Atlantic and the island's rugged coastal landscape. The mighty rock walls drop steeply into the sea, creating a backdrop that seems almost unreal.

The road to heaven

The viewpoint is located on the coastal road GC-200, known as Andén Verde , which connects La Aldea de San Nicolás with Agaete. Its location far from towns and lights makes it a good spot for stargazing at night. The Mirador is situated at around 355 meters altitude, about 5 to 6 kilometers above La Aldea. The winding drive up is already part of the experience, as it's one of the most impressive roads on the island.

The view: Breathtaking and all the way to Tenerife

What's special is the feeling that awaits you on the viewing platform: You stand at the edge of the island, looking out over the infinite ocean, and feel as if you're floating between sky and sea. From the parking lot, stairs lead down to a platform with glass elements and safety barriers that allow you an unobstructed view into the depths. You'll see a jagged rock wall of steep cliffs that's called the "dragon's tail" because of its shape.

If you turn around, you look back into the interior, over the La Arena valley and the wide, green basin of La Aldea de San Nicolás. On a clear day, you can even spot the majestic Teide on the neighboring island of Tenerife on the horizon, an unforgettable sight.

A place to pause

A place where you simply want to stop, take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment. The Mirador del Balcón is not just a viewpoint, but a little piece of magic on Gran Canaria.
